Lecture Series
UC Davis houses several centers focused on brain and mind research, many of which host distinguished researchers from around the world in lecture series designed to explore the cutting edge of research in these fields. Current seminars and speaker series are hosted by the UC Davis Center for Neuroscience, UC Davis Center for Mind and Brain, and the UC Davis MIND institute.

Exploring the Mind Speaker Series
Center for Mind and Brain (267 Cousteau Place, Davis)
The Exploring the Mind Speaker Series, hosted by the UC Davis Center for Mind and Brain, invites distinguished scientists from many fields of research to discuss various aspects of the mind. All lectures are open to the public, though attendance usually rivals the available seating. Lunch is usually provided for graduate students and postdoctoral trainees, where they can engage with the speaker in a small group setting.

Seminar Outreach for Minority Advocacy (SOMA)
The Center for Neuroscience (1544 Newton Court, Davis)
The Seminar Outreach for Minority Advocacy (SOMA) is a student organized seminar series that aims to enhance the visibility of successful underrepresented minorities in neuroscience and educate our campus community about issues that contribute to continued oppression of minority groups. Invited speakers are either from cellular/systems/cognitive neuroscience backgrounds, or from social neuroscience backgrounds, and will speak on their research related to the neuroscience of implicit bias, race relations, gender, etc. More about the SOMA program can be found here.
